OK, so windows application testing isn't so bad. Or at least, it wasn't until service packs, Windows Vista, and .net appeared on the scene.

You've got up to three service packs for Windows XP, and four versions of Windows Vista.

If you haven't got Windows Vista, it really pays to get your application tested on Vista. A lot has changed. Especially permissions. It's so easy to make a simple mistake, like trying to write to the application's installation directory, and if you've not tested on multiple platforms, this critical error might not be discovered.

If you don't have Vista, or if you're developing on Vista and don't have XP, a cheap, simple way to get your application tested on multiple platforms is with TestArmy.
